Suspect arrested in Picayune after fleeing trial in Rankin County
The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office (PRCSO) Narcotics Unit and the Picayune Police Department’s Narcotics Unit received information that a wanted subject was at a residence located at 4 Walnut Grove Lane in Picayune on June 21st.
According to Pearl River County Sheriff David Allison, William Rodney Hambright, age 37, of Utica, MS, had been on trial a few days earlier in Rankin County, MS, for Aggravated Domestic Assault. On the second morning of his trial, Hambright failed to appear and a warrant for his arrest was issued. It was learned that Hambright might have fled to Pearl River County in an effort to avoid prosecution.
As investigators and members of the PRCSO Patrol Division arrived the residence, Hambright was apprehended as he tried to flee out the back door of the residence. With Hambright in custody, it was learned that Charles James Rohrbacker, age 43, of 33 Easy Street, Picayune, was at the residence and assisting Hambright in flight from prosecution. After being arrested, investigators performed a search of Rohrbacker’s person and located a user amount of Methamphetamine.
