Hazardous waste disposal day is Saturday in Picayune

The City of Picayune will provide city residents an opportunity to dispose of hazardous waste on Saturday (June 30th) from 8:00am until 12:00 noon. The location for the drop off will be at the Public Works facility located 101 Whitthauer Street in Picayune, just off Martin Luther King Blvd just across the railroad tracks from Highway 11

Christy Goss, Director of Retirement and Grants Administration, was able to secure the grant which is for up to $25,000.00 and the city’s matching part would not exceed $6,000.00.

Fire Department Chief Keith Brown explained that the goal of this program is to allow residents to bring household hazardous items that cannot be thrown into normal garbage.
