Carriere's Christian Smith Named 2018 SSAC Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Christian Smith (SR/Carriere, Miss.) of William Carey (Miss.) has been named the 2018 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the league office announced Friday.

About Christian Smith

  • Named First-Team All-Conference, Gold Glove and All-Academic

  • Started all 56 games for the Crusaders, hitting .330 with 64 hits, 55 runs and 52 stolen bases, while also playing errorless ball in the outfield

  • His 52 steals leads the NAIA and posted a season-long hitting streak of 17 games March 21-April 17
