Three arrested in Nixon murder case

In reference to the homicide that occurred at 304 Jarrell Street, three people have been taken into custody and charged in reference to the case according to a statement by Picayune Police Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri.

Magri's statement:

"After the hard work and dedication of the lead investigator and following up on numerous tips, Malcolm Nixon, who was already in custody, has been charged with first degree murder and his bond has been set at $1,000,000.00.

His mother, Mahala Burkett, age 65, 304 Jarrell Street, Picayune, has been taken into custody for accessory before the fact of murder and hindering prosecution. Her bond was set at $200,000.00 ($100,000.00 per charge).

Malcolm’s girlfriend, Ashlyn Cheramie, age 21, of 22 Blueberry Hill, Carriere, has been taken into custody for hindering prosecution and her bond was set at $100,000.00."
