The Krewe of the Pearl brought the feel of Mardi Gras to the streets of Picayune on Saturday afternoon when it rolled in front of an enthusiastic crowd despite the cloudy and cold weather.
The parade goers were treated to a plethora of throws including beads, cups, stuffed animals, moon pies, and marching bands.
King Jimmy Watts was happy about the parade and expressed his gratitude to the crowd that came out to enjoy the day.
"It's been a great time and we want to thank everyone for coming out today and supporting the Krewe of Pearl. I want to send a personal thanks to everyone involved to make this a lot of fun."
Shortly after the conclusion the parade, the free concert featuring Picayune native Chuck Loftin, cranked up at Crosby Commons. Those in attendance were treated to Loftin's cover of many favorite classic rock music along with a strong mixture of Mardi Gras related tunes.
