Six arrested at traffic safety checkpoint

Picayune Police Department Patrol Officers and Narcotic Detectives conducted a traffic safety checkpoint on Highway 11 near Interstate 59 on October 30th around 7:00pm and made six arrests according to a press release from Picayune Police Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri.

The first suspect refused to stop at the checkpoint and had to be chased down by a patrol office. two miles north of the checkpoint on Interstate 59. The suspect, identified as Joshua Joseph Pomes, age 28, of 15 Montclair Drive, Carriere, was arrested for three Contempt of Court Warrants.

The second suspect, identified as David William aka “Sir William” Hight, age 29, of 46 Horby Holston Road, Carriere, was recognized by the Narcotic Detectives and they knew Hight had a suspended driver’s license for controlled substance violations. Hight was place under arrest for Driving While License Suspended. A Narcotic Detective searched of Hight’s vehicle and located a clear plastic bag containing a crystal substance believed to be Crystal Methamphetamine inside of the dashboard, a glass pipe containing burnt residue inside the the front door panel. Hight was subsequently charged with Felony Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony) and Possession of Paraphernalia.

The third suspect, identified as Joshua Paul Livaccari, was stopped and Detectives smelled a strong odor of what appeared to be Marijuana emitting from his vehicle. Officers conducted a search of Livacarri’s vehicle and found a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be Marijuana inside of the front center console. Livacarri was placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana in a Motor Vehicle.

The fourth suspect, Adam Elijah Holliingsworth, age 41, of 158 Cliff Mitchell Road, Nicholson, MS, was stopped at the checkpoint and the patrol officers smelled a strong odor of what appeared to be Marijuana emitting from his vehicle. Officers search the vehicle and found a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be Marijuana underneath the driver’s seat. Officers later learned that Hollingsworth did not possess valid insurance on his vehicle. He was placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana in a Motor Vehicle and No Insurance.

The fifth suspect, Charlie Ray Williams, age 42, of 28491 Issac Road, Lacombe, LA, came to the checkpoint and officers observed an open 32 oz can of beer in the front center console. Officers asked Williams, and a passenger in the car, identified as Brandon Lee Schiro, of 235 Morgan Seal Road, Picayune, to exit the vehicle. A search of William’s vehicle by a Detective located a orange syringe which contained a clear substance believed to be Crystal Methamphetamine and a clear plastic back containing a green leafy substance inside the front center console. Both Williams and Schiro denied being in possession of the narcotics and beer. Both were placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Open Beer.

All of the suspects were transported to the Criminal Justice Center where they were booked and incarcerated on the charges for which each of them were arrested.
