Picayune Police Narcotics Detectives conducted an undercover operation that resulted in the arrest of two suspects. The operation took place on October 16th at approximately 12:30pm according to Assistant Police Chief Jeremy Magri.
The suspects, identified as Daudra Ladarius Curry, age 25, of 3151 Jackson Landing Road, in Picayune, and Ariel Rachel Turner, age 24, of 15111 Highway 26, Sugartown, Louisiana, contacted an undercover narcotics detective and advised the detective that they would be willing to transfer a large amount of hydroponic marijuana.
The Picayune Narcotics Division, along with the Picayune Police Patrol Division, setup a perimeter around the Fourth Street area at Highway 11 North and began to conduct surveillance. While conducting surveillance, a white Nissan Rogue arrived on the scene, at which time an undercover narcotics detective identified Curry who was driving the vehicle and Turner who was a passenger in the vehicle.
Detectives made contact with the suspects and place them both under arrest for Conspiracy to Transfer a Controlled Substance within 1500 feet of a Church. A search of the vehicle revealed several brown hand rolled cigars containing a green leafy substance hidden inside of the vehicle’s right door panel.
Curry and Turner were then both charged with Possession of Marijuana in a Motor Vehicle, transported to the Criminal Justice Center, booked on the said charges, and incarcerated.
