After a tough home loss last week against Hattiesburg, Picayune will hit the road to Jackson County to take on the Gautier Gators (3-6, 2-3). While the Maroon Tide (7-2, 4-1) has secured a playoff spot, Gautier still has slim hopes of making the post season and must win out and get a lot of help from other teams losing to have a chance.
Offensively, running back Micah Kelly (5-11,190, Jr.) leads the Gators with 518 yards and 4 TDs and quarterback Kameron Kincaid (6-0, 160, Jr.) has rushed for 267 yards and 6 TDs. Kincaid has thrown for 461 yards and 8 TDs. Gautier rallied last week in the last two minutes to beat Pearl River Central 28-22 at Carriere.
Picayune's Shaun Anderson continues to put up impressive numbers. Anderson (5-7,165,Sr.) has scored 22 TDs and rushed for 1,874 yards. The Maroon Tide offensive line of center Garrett Franklin (6-0,275, Jr.), guards Jacob Brumley (5-9, 220,Sr.) and Darius Magee (5-8,230,Jr.), tackles Benny Holifield (6-0,260, Sr.) and Deonta Reed (5-11, 319, Soph.), and tight end D.J. Ruff (6-3, 235, Soph.) have been steady providing plenty of space for Anderson and the rest of the Maroon Tide backs. The return of David Baker (6-0,232,Sr.) and the steady output of Jaurice Travis (5-9, 160, Jr.), has allowed Anderson to catch a breath at times and be able to play more on defense.
