Blue Devils to face surging Stone Tomcats
Pearl River Central lost a heartbreaker last week when Gautier scored in the last few seconds to win the game 28-22. This week the Blue Devils will travel to Perkinston to take on the Stone Tomcats (5-3, 3-2).
The Tomcats have won their last two games (beat Gautier 42-0 and Wayne County 44-21) to position themselves to clinch a playoff berth with a win on Friday or next week against Long Beach.
PRC (1-8, 1-4) will have to once again try to control the tempo of the game and keep Stone's Enrique Whaley (5-10, 175, Sr.) on defense instead of offense where he has become the go-to guy for Stone. Whaley has rushed for 448 yards and scored 7 TDs in the last three games since moving to quarterback for the majority of the Tomcats snaps.
PRC got a solid performance from their ground game last week gaining 252 yards with Louis Reece (5-11, 198, Sr.) tallying 135 yards on 28 rushes in a gutsy performance. Reece has played the entire season wearing a brace and postponing surgery on his torn ACL so he could play his senior season for the Blue Devils.
The game will be on wrjwradio.com and the WRJW smart phone app with coverage beginning at 6:30pm with the Paw Paw's Campers and Cars Pregame Show. The game can be heard in the stadium on FM 91.1.
Eli Ouder (play by play), Jim Eastridge (color analyst), Timmy Craft (sideline reporter), and Scooter Black (stats) will be on the call of the game.
