Visit Mississippi Launches New Website
Jackson, Miss. (Sept. 28, 2017) – Visit Mississippi, the tourism division of the Mississippi Development Authority, officially launched the new state tourism website, featuring dynamic content and a user-friendly layout designed to engage visitors on all digital formats.
“With more than 86,000 employees, Mississippi's travel and tourism industry is the state's fourth largest employer generating more than $395 million for the General Fund in Fiscal Year 2016,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. “Our online presence is every bit as important as our Welcome Centers for creating a positive first impression for Mississippi.”
Visit Mississippi’s website provides information on attractions, events and festivals throughout the state’s distinct cultural regions. Visitors can explore the state virtually through suggested itineraries and blogs on where to eat, stay and play, or select targeted categories such as sports and outdoors activities, history and culture, arts and music, entertainment and events and more.
“The MDA Marketing and Communications division worked to create this attractive new platform for delivering information to our potential visitors,” said MDA Chief Marketing Officer Pamela Weaver. “Visitors to the new site will have an enhanced user experience which we hope encourages them to visit our state.”
Developed in-house by Mississippi Development Authority staff, the website will adapt to any digital platform, from desktop and laptop computers to tablets and other mobile devices, and includes time-lapse background video highlighting scenes from around the state. Each blog and itinerary page also features upcoming events across the state.
“More than 23 million people visited Mississippi in Fiscal Year 2016 for overnight and day trips,” said Visit Mississippi Director Craig Ray. “By helping connect these visitors to more areas of interest in the state, we hope to grow the number of visitors and length of time they spend in Mississippi.”
