Update: Tax payment received from Shale Support Services says Tax Assessor Gary Beech

At Wednesday’s meeting of the Picayune City Council, Councilman Wayne Gouguet had questions about tax money owed to the city and the school system by Shale Support Services sand plant.

Thursday, just after noon, WRJW News received a call from Pearl River County Tax Assessor Gary Beech and he stated that his office had received a check via FedEx delivery in the amount of $278, 393.62 from Drying Facility Assets Holding, LLC, which according to Beech is affiliated with Shale Support Services. Beech said this amount was for the taxes owed for 2016.

Mr. Beech said, “This payment received today pays the full amount owed for 2016 and now only the taxes for the year 2015 are owed to the city, county and schools. The outstanding amount is approximately $400,000.00 plus 1 percent interest per month which would bring the total owed to $480,000.00 that’s unpaid."
