Hornets keep rolling with 33-14 win over Heidelberg
Heidelberg--For the second consecutive week, the Poplarville Hornets had to go on the road and once again they used a strong second half to post a 33-14 win over a very tough Heidelberg Oilers team. The win moves the Hornets to 5-0 on the season.
Poplarville's Austin Bolton struck early and often against the Oilers rushing for 256 yards on 24 carries with 3 TDs moving his yearly total to 13 touchdowns .
The defense was stout once again for the undefeated Hornets. Junior defensive back Canaan Ray had a huge interception late in the third quarter to help seal the win. The wing T offense was clicking on all cylinders for Coach Jay Beech and the Hornets as fullback Roosevelt Raine had 152 yards and a TD. Ross Barnett also had a TD run for the Hornets.
The Hornets have a bye week next week before opening district play against Greene County in Poplarville at The Hornet Nest on September 29th.
