Picayune Police and Sheriff's Department respond to armed robbery
Earlier today (Tuesday) at 10:17am, Picayune Police officers were dispatched to Check into Cash, located at 807 Highway 11 South B, Picayune, in response to an armed robbery in progress. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with an employee who told officers that a black male entered the business, displayed a firearm, and demanded money, at which time an undetermined about of money was given to the suspect, and the suspect fled the scene.
According to Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri, officers and detectives with the Picayune Police as well as deputies from the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department were immediately in the area and were able to setup a perimeter. After a short foot pursuit, officers were able to take a suspect into custody. At this time, the suspect is under arrest for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest by fleeing. He is also a subject of interest in the armed robbery at the business. Magri stated the investigation is ongoing.
Magri also stated that he wanted to publicly thank the Pearl River County Sheriff's Department for their assistance and prompt response during today's events in apprehending the suspect.
