Picayune beats 'Goula 27-6

Picayune--The Picayune Maroon Tide overcame three turnovers in their win over the Pascagoula Panthers on Friday night at Lee-Triplett Stadium to move their record to 2-1 on the season.
Picayune scored on the opening possession of the game on a 30 yard touchdown pass from
Tyler Penton to Elijah Burton with 6:49 left in the first quarter. The drive covered 69 yards and took 9 plays using five minutes and three seconds off the clock. Sami Nagi kicked to extra point.
Early in the second quarter, the Picayune defense stopped the Panthers on fourth down at the 'Goula 48. Shaun "Roadrunner" Anderson ran for 26 yards and 13 yards on the first two plays of the possession and Kade Turnage ran for a 13 yard touchdown on the third play.
Nagis' point after made it 14-0 with 7:59 left before the half.
The Panthers took the second half kickoff and moved the ball to the Maroon Tide 4 yard line.
On fourth down, Michael Ferrier stopped the 'Goula ball carrier short of the first down.
Pascagoula got their points on the next possession when Nick Jones intercepted a pass and
returned it 30 yards for a touchdown with 2:39 left in the third quarter. The extra point was wide right.
Picayune answered on the next possession marching 51 yards on 8 plays with Jaurice Travis
slashings his way in from 1 yard out. Nagi's point after was wide right and the score stood at
20-6 with 10:58 left in the game.
Picayune forced 'Goula to punt and took over at their own 18. The Maroon Tide drove
the 82 yards in 10 plays with Anderson scoring on a 5 yard run. Nagi kicked the extra point.
Picayune rushed 43 times for 315 yards. Penton completed 4 of 8 passes for 55 yards.
The Maroon Tide defense held Pascagoula to 151 yards of total offense for the game.
Picayune travels to Gulfport on Friday.
