Blue Devils rebound with 12-2 win in Game 2 to even series with Hattiesburg

Carriere—Less than 24 hours after suffering a stomach turning 9-8 loss in Game 1 on Thursday night at Hattiesburg, Pearl River Central rebounded in astounding fashion with a 12-2 win in five innings over the Tigers.

Senior southpaw Hayden Lebeau handcuffed the Tigers allowing just three hits and two walks while recording five strikeouts in the five inning game.

After holding Hattiesburg scoreless in the top of the first, the Blue Devils jumped out to 3-0 lead. Tristian Schlottman singled and Austen Izzio doubled. Schlottman scored on a passed ball and Hayden Dunhurst walked. Eli Lee singled to bring in Izzio and the Blue Devils got the third run on a fielder’s choice.

PRC ballooned the lead with a six run fourth with Lee driving in another run and Caleb Tynes got his second hit of the game to plate two more runs. The Blue Devils scored the other runs on three Tiger errors.

In the fifth, PRC’s Connor Holston started the inning being hit by a pitch, Schlottman single, and one out later Dunhurst ended the game with a three run blast that he deposited into deep right field.

Game 3 will be played Saturday night in Hattiesburg at 7:00pm. Coverage begins at 6:45pm with the Paw Paw’s Campers and Cars Pregame Show on WRJW 1320 AM, wrjw.com , and the WRJW app for smartphones.
