Sheriff's Department makes arrest in burglaries


The Pearl River County Sheriff’s department made an arrest late Monday night in relation to auto burglaries that happened near Highway 11 in Carriere.

Deputies with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call around 7:00am Monday morning concerning a suspicious person walking around Mark’s Auto Repair located on Highway 11 in Carriere. Upon arrival, deputies discovered multiple vehicles had been burglarized.

According to Sheriff’s Chief Investigator Marc Ogden, miscellaneous items such as speakers and stereo equipment had been stolen from the vehicles. Further calls from local residents informed the deputies that the suspect was on foot. Following an investigation of the area, deputies were able to locate the suspect identified as 20 year old Conner Baker of Poplarville, Mississippi. Baker was previously arrested by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department for simple assault in January 2016.

Upon further investigation, deputies were able to link Baker to the scene of the crime and took Baker into custody. Baker was charged with two counts of auto burglary and is currently in the custody of Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department.

All stolen items from the vehicles have been recovered by Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department.
