Blue Devils win Game 1 at Long Beach 10-3

Long Beach--The visiting Pearl River Central Blue Devils beat Long Beach 10-3 in Game 1 of their third round series at Michael Rutledge Stadium.
The Blue Devils jumped up 2-0 on Eli Lee’s third home run of the year in the top of the first. Hayden Dunhurst reached on an error and then Lee blasted a 1-0 pitch over the right centerfield fence.
PRC extended the lead to 6-0 in the second inning. Josh Kennedy, Caleb Tynes, and Zach Roussell had singles. Tristian Schlottman drove in a run with a fielder’s choice after Kennedy and Roussell scored on wild pitches. The other run scored on a throwing error by Long Beach.
In the fourth, PRC scored four runs as Schlottman, Austen Izzio, and Dunhurst all had hits for RBIs and Cade Lee drove in a run with a groundout for a 10-0 lead.
Hayden Lebeau pitched into the fourth inning. Lebeau struck out the side in the first and third innings. In the fourth, Lebeau who walked in a run before being relieved by Austin Dean with the bases loaded. Dean walked the first batter he faced to force in another run and a ground ball scored Long Beach’s final run. Dean closed the game out by shutting out the Bearcats in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings.
Game 2 is set for tonight (Saturday) in Carriere at 7:00pm. WRJW radio coverage starts at 6:45pm with the Paw Paws' Campers & Cars Pre-Game Show.
