Pearl River Central High School held an assembly Friday morning with a special surprise for one deserving teacher. Greg Gallagher, Senior Program Director for the Milken Family Foundation, came to Pearl River County from Santa Monica California to present the Milken Educator Award.
The award, often described as the Oscar of Teaching, was presented to Chayna Adams, PRCHS lead teacher. The award comes with an unrestricted $25,000 check that Mrs. Adams can use for any purpose. Only 60 educators across the nation will receive this honor in the 2021-2022 school year and Mrs. Adams is the first ever for the Pearl River County School District.
