Highland Community Hospital's Community COVID Care making a difference

Last week, Highland Community Hospital, part of the Forrest Health System, opened a Community COVID Care unit in front of the hospital. The unit is a drive thru operation and services offered include full service COVID-19 Rapid Testing, Vaccinations, and Monocional Antibody Infusions. Bryan Maxie, CEO of Highland said the unit is staff by twenty employees and is open 7 days per week from 9:00 am until 7:00 p.m.

On Monday, Maxie gave an update on WRJW radio on the first four days of the unit being operational. During the first four days, 1,671 people were tested for COVID, 431 of those tested positive, and 390 of those people who test positive were given the antibody infusion. There were 373 vaccines given. Maxie said the unit will operate for three more weeks.

Late yesterday, Maxie provided WRJW with an update stating that 483 tests were given on Monday with 121 positive tests.
