Pearl River County Utility Authority Announces Plans for New Customer Service/Administration Buildin

Picayune, MS – The Pearl River County Utility Authority (PRCUA) announces plans to develop and construct a new 3,500 square foot customer service and administration building on Goodyear Boulevard in Picayune.

The development site is located next door to the Pearl River County Chimney Square building. The building will include a customer service counter, drive-through payment window and drop box, administration offices, conference room, and boardroom. The building and site will be fully ADA compliant. Preliminary project construction estimates are $475,000 - $575,000, and development costs will be offset by existing office space lease payments.

PRCUA has engaged Architect Brad Jones of MP Design Group of Biloxi, MS to design the building. Estimated project timelines are to advertise for bids and begin construction in early 2020, and project completion-move-in late summer of 2020.

“We are excited to move forward with this project. The concept of a permanent home for PRCUA has been discussed by our Board of Directors for a long time. The board currently has met in a training room at the Neal Road wastewater facility for 5+ years. It’s time to stop wasting money on rent and reallocate those funds on a modern, well-designed, common sense facility. We’re fortunate to be in a position to fund this project without taking on new debt. The site is located much closer to our retail customer base, in a highly visible governmental corridor, and the drive-through window will increase convenience for retail customers. Our goal is to create an attractive, convenient building, suited to its location, using mostly stock building materials to keep construction costs to a minimum, ” said Cliff Diamond, Executive Director.
