Traffic stop leads to the arrest of three local women

On August 11, 2019, deputies with the Pearl River County Sheriff Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for careless driving and no seat belt. Upon making contact with the occupants of the vehicle, deputies observed indicators that made them believed narcotics may be present in the vehicle or on the person of the occupants.

According to Sheriff David Allison, a search of the vehicle was conducted and deputies discovered heroin on one occupant of the vehicle, identified as Julie A. McKean, age 50, of #20 Davis Dawsey Road, Picayune, MS. At this time, all of the occupants of the vehicle were transported to the county jail in Millard at which time narcotics investigators were notified due to the discovery of the illegal narcotics.

Through further investigations, Sheriff Allison stated that investigators obtained and executed a search warrant at #20 Davis Dawsey Road, Picayune, MS, with the primary resident of that location being Cinda Marie Thigpen, age 62. While searching the residence, investigators found digital scales and other paraphernalia commonly used for distributing heroin along with a distribution amount of marijuana.

Based on the evidence collected during the search warrant, Cinda Thigpen was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Heroin) with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana) with Intent to Distribute, Tampering with Evidence, and the two traffic related violations (careless driving and no seat belt) according to Sheriff Allison.

Julie McKean was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Heroin).

The third occupant of the vehicle, identified as Alecia Kathleen Stockstill, age 50, of #7111 Road 406, Kiln, MS, was arrested for unrelated warrants through the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department according to Sheriff Allison.

Sheriff Allison added that he would like to commend the work of the Patrol Division deputies for their work in this case.

“The Patrol Division’s primary responsibility is the respond to calls in order to keep our roads safe and ensure residents are safe in their homes throughout the county. I would like to thank them for their hard work and attentiveness in extra details in helping to get drugs off the street in Pearl River County.”
