Pearl River’s Mychala Linzy earns All-State honor

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — One of the key contributors in the Pearl River women's basketball program's big jump in 2018-19 has been honored by the league.

Freshman guard Mychala "Pooh" Linzy was named to the All-MACJC second team on Friday, the league announced.

"The growth that Pooh made from when she stepped foot on campus to now has been nothing short of amazing," PRCC coach Scotty Fletcher said. "This reward she received is nothing less of a direct reflection to the commitment and discipline she showed this season."

Linzy was a consistent weapon for the Lady Wildcats this season, averaging a team-high 10.5 points per game.

Linzy's season high came on Jan. 17, when she scored a team-high 24 points to help lead the Lady Wildcats to a 65-52 victory over Hinds.

The Lady Wildcats turned in a standout season this year, posting a 16-9 overall record with a 9-5 mark in the MACJC. The Lady Wildcats also appeared in both the MACJC and Region XXIII tournaments for the first time in four seasons.
