Pearl River rodeo competes in Arkansas-Monticello event

MONTICELLO, Ark. — The Pearl River rodeo team competed in a event hosted by the University of Arkansa-Monticello over the weekend.

A bright spot for the team was the performance of sophomore Zeak Shorter (Florence).

Shorter made it past the first round in tie team roping when he and his partner caught their steer at 8 seconds.

The time was good enough for second overall in the first round.

Shorter missed in the following short round.

"Zeak finally relaxed and took care of business when the perfect opportunity was in front of him," PRCC coach Robby Shaw said. "They didn't have the perfect steer out there but they were able to go out there and take care of business."

PRCC's next rodeo event will be Thursday, April 11, when they travel to the University of Tennessee-Martin.
