Picayune Police make drug arrest in reference to domestic violence call

On December 8th at around 5:45 p.m., a Picayune Police Patrol officer was dispatched to East Canal Street near the Picayune Alternative School in reference to a white male and white female involved in a possible domestic disturbance. When the officer arrived, he observed the subjects walking down East Canal Street arguing and yelling at one another.

When the officer exited the patrol car to speak with the subjects, he observed the white female, identified as Sharon Elizabeth Jenkins, age 38, of 302 Edgewood Drive, Picayune, to be stuttering and acting nervous. When the officer asked Jenkins to stop walking away, she ignored his commands multiple times and continued walking. A female officer arrived on the scene and at this time Jenkins attempted to discard an item in a nearby storm drain on the street.

While speaking with Jenkins, the officers observed a strong odor emitting from Jenkins that appeared to be the smell of Marijuana. It was learned through investigation that the subjects had been smoking Marijuana earlier, but did not have any in their possession at this time.

The female officer performed a pat-down search on Jenkins and the other officer was able to retrieve the item from the storm drain, which was a bag. The officer searched the bag and located multiple syringes, a clear plastic bag containing a clear white substance believed to crystal methamphetamine, and another container which held a crystal like substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Jenkins was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance (felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance (misdemeanor), and Possession of Paraphernalia. She was transported to the Criminal Justice Center where she was booked and incarcerated.
