No. 20 Pearl River blows past Delta in Thanksgiving tournament

DECATUR— No. 20 Pearl River flexed their muscles in a big way Tuesday.

Facing off against Mississippi Delta in their second game of the East Central Shootout, the Wildcats scored early and often to race off to a 97-60 victory.

“I’ve honestly thought these last two games that we have gotten four percent better instead of two percent better because we have kind of went through it all,” PRCC coach Chris Oney said. “The first game we had to battle back but in this game we kind of had to make sure we were focused because this was the last game before the break.”

Firing on all cylinders

Tuesday was just another example of the explosiveness the Wildcats posses on offense.

In their 6 wins so far, PRCC (6-0) has scored 98, 103, 95, 140, 85 and 97 points.

Not only did the Wildcats play spectacular offense but they also came up big on the defensive side of the ball allowing Delta (3-3) only 60 points, tying the lowest point total they have given up on the year.

Spreading the Wealth

One of the consistent strengths this PRCC team has shown this year is their ability to pass the ball and dish out points from every direction.

Cedric Brim Jr. (Tupelo; Shannon) led the way once again fro the Wildcats scoring 25 points on the night.

LaGarious White (Ridgeland; Brandon) wasn’t far behind Brim scoring a season high 20 points in the contest.

Eric Thornton Jr. (Canton; Murrah) also got his moneys worth in the game scoring 14 points for the Wildcats.

Oney was pleased to see his team communicate well on the offensive side of the ball.

“I thought they all played really well, we shared the ball and everyone did what they needed to do.”

“It was not one guy tonight, it was everybody contributing and when we share the ball that way it makes us a very dangerous team.”
