Search warrant leads to two arrests
Picayune Police Department Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at 106 Greenview Drive in reference to several community complaints of alleged illegal narcotics distribution at the address according to a press release from Assistant Police Chief Jeremy Magri.
Magri’s press release states that upon executing the search warrant, Narcotic Detectives came in contact with a suspect in the front yard who was identified as Yvonne Adele Hirt, age 33, of the said address. Hirt was advised by a Detective to place her hands behind her back, but she refused to do so. Hirt then alledgedly raised her hands toward a Detective in a fighting posture at which time she was detained.

Upon making entry into the residence, Detectives immediately smelled a strong odor of what appeared to be Marijuana. Detectives located and detained another suspect, identified as Shabazz Kennez Magee, age 35, of the said address, who was found hiding in the master bedroom’s bathroom.
During a search of the residence, Detectives located a loaded black and nickel plated Smith & Wesson 40 caliber handgun with two loaded chrome magazines, $950.00 of miscellaneous bills of U.S. currency, one black Stevens 12 gauge shotgun and a box of rolling papers which mimicked a $100.00 bill. The items were in the master bedroom.
Magri’s press release said Detectives also located two glass jars containing a green leafy substance believed to be Hydroponic Marijuana underneath the residence’s central air conditioning unit. Upon conducting a further search of the residence, Detectives located another glass jar containing a green leafy substance believed to be Hydroponic Marijuana, one black digital scale containing a green leafy substance residue believed to be from Hydroponic Marijuana , a box of clear plastic sandwich bags, and several cigar wrappers in the kitchen cabinet. These items are commonly used to package and distribute illegal narcotics.

The currency and firearms were seized due to being within close proximity of illegal narcotics. According to Magri’s press release, Magee was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute While in Possession of a Firearm. Hirt was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute While in Possession of a Firearm and Disorderly Conduct Failure to Comply.
Both Magee and Hirt were transported to the Criminal Justice Center, booked, and incarcerated. Magri’s press release said the approximately 1 pound of Hydroponic Marijuana was valued at $2,000.00.
