PRCC comps admission for East Mississippi game

POPLARVILLE — Fans arriving at Dobie Holden Stadium on Thursday night won’t have to stop at the ticket office. Admission has been waived for the 6 p.m. football game against East Mississippi Community College, the school announced Tuesday.

“Our administration wanted to give everybody a break from dealing with Tropical Storm Gordon, so we decided to invite the entire community to come out for free,” PRCC Athletics Director Jeff Long said.

According to weather reports, Gordon is expected to strengthen into a Category 1 Hurricane by the time it makes landfall along the Mississippi Coast on Tuesday evening. A hurricane warning is currently in effect for Mississippi and Alabama. Heavy rain, storm-surge flooding and strong winds are possible as a result of Gordon.

In response to Gordon, PRCC announced Monday that all campuses will close at noon Tuesday and reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday.

In addition, Tuesday’s home soccer matches against Southwest Mississippi Community College were rescheduled to Sept. 19.
