Charles Eugene Bowman captured in Utah last night

Charles Eugene Bowman, of the Barth community in northern Pearl River County, has been captured in Utah according to Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office Chief Investigator Marc Ogden. Ogden said he received a call last night around 7:00pm local central time from the U.S. Marshal Service advising him that Bowman was possibly spotted at a campsite on the east side of Bear Lake, Utah.

According to Ogden, the Forestry Service thought they had spotted Bowman’s car and him, but were not for 100% sure. Authorities contacted the U.S. Marshal officers and while awaiting for their arrival to the area, they setup surveillance around the area. The Marshal Service arrived at 6:30pm local mountain time and started their surveillance for a short period of time and were able to verify it was Bowman. The Marshals were able to move in undetected and caught Bowman outside this tent and he immediately surrendered and was taken into custody.

Ogden said Bowman was transported to Davis County Utah Sheriff’s Department where he is awaiting extradition to Pearl River County.

Bowman is wanted for a warrant for murder and tampering with physical evidence in Pearl River County in connection with the disappearance of his wife. Bowman has been eluding officials in Utah for two weeks before being captured last night.
