Picayune—Picayune and Pearl River Central went extra innings for their second consecutive game against each other in baseball with Picayune scoring a run in the bottom of the 8th on a two single by Jakail Myers to give the Maroon Tide a 7-6 win.

Picayune jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a two-run home run over the center field fence by Chad Stockstill and a bases-clearing three run double from Kade Turnage. PRC starter Rigel Robinson settled down after the shaky first inning and kept Picayune scoreless the next four innings recording 10 strikeouts.

Maroon Tide starter Luke Smith kept the Blue Devils (17-6 , 6-3) in check through the first four innings, but Pearl River Central finally got to Smith in the top of the fifth with four runs. The first run came on a sacrifice fly by Tristan Schlottman scoring Robert Shoemake who singled to start the inning. An error by Picayune on an apparent double play ground ball kept the inning going and eventually allowing Hayden Dunhurst to hit a three run home run over the scoreboard in right field to make it 5-4.

Hickman, came on in relief of Smith in the seventh and two Picayune errors allowed the Blue Devils to tie the game and then load the bases. Hickman responded by striking out the side to keep the game tied at 6-6.

After Hickman worked a perfect inning in the top of the 8th, he reached on a Blue Devil error to start the bottom of the 8th and was replaced by courtesy runner Peyton Esslinger. After a sacrifice bunt by Dylan Ramsay moved Esslinger to second base, Turnage moved Esslinger to third base with a ground out to the second baseman. Myers then delivered his game ending hit on a 3-2 pitch from reliever Blake Craft.
