Update on Closed County Bridges
Two county bridges are set to reopen to traffic after being replaced.
Pearl River County Engineer Les Dungan explained that the bridge on Homer Ladner Road in Poplarville will be reopened after having two culverts installed and the bridge on Olive Church Road in Lumberton will be reopened after having the pilings underneath replaced.
According to Duncan, now that the work on the bridges has been completed the county has requested a re-inspection by the state so that the bridges can officially reopen to traffic. said that now work on both bridges is complete, the county has requested a re-inspection by the state so the roads can reopen to traffic.
The estimated cost for the bridge on Homer Ladner is $65,000 and the cost of construction to replace the bridge on Olive Church was approximately $14,000.
Construction to the bridges is part of the County’s plan to fix the bridge crisis in Pearl River County.
