After several complaints from the community that illegal drugs were being sold at a residence at 1300 Ausborn Road, Picayune Police Narcotics Division detectives executed a search warrant at the residence on the afternoon of February 28th , according to a press release from Picayune Police Department Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri.

When detectives arrived at the residence, the press release states that detectives detained the suspect, Stephen Blake Kennedy, age 22, of the same address, who was sitting on the front porch.

During the search of the residence, detectives found a black digital scale which contained a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and $260.00 of miscellaneous bills of U.S. currency on the night stand in Kennedy’s bedroom.

Detectives also found a sawed-off shotgun, four clear plastic bags containing a green leafy substance believed to be hydroponic marijuana, several multi-colored plastic bags, a rubber skull container containing a brown wax substance believed to be hashish, and several paraphernalia items on the bed. The bags and scale are commonly used for the packaging and distribution of illegal narcotics and the paraphernalia found is commonly used to inhale illegal narcotics.

Kennedy was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute While in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Synthetic Marijuana, and Possession of Paraphernalia according to Magri.
