Sheriff Allison to be honored by Boy Scouts
David Hemeter, chairman for the Boy Scouts of America Pearl River County Good Scout Award Dinner, is pleased to announce the 2018 honoree is Sheriff David Allison. The event will be 6 p.m. March 8th at The First Baptist Church (The Link), 401 Goodyear Blvd, Picayune, MS. Funds raised at the event will support Pearl River County Scouting.
David Allison is a supporter of the Boy Scouts! He attributes many of the values in his life to things he learned as a teenager in boy Scouts; honesty being number one. His memories as a scout also include; fun at the weekly meetings, camping trips, and doing projects in the community for those in need. It is important for him to give back to Boy Scouts so today’s young men can be afforded the same opportunity he was given.
David has had positive work ethics since the young age of 14 where he began working at a local quick stop. His dream was to own his own business and thus provide for his family. With the help of Bill Stegall teaching him the trade of the business over a 12 year period, David was then able to purchase his own business. He has had the opportunity to add other stores and a gasoline distribution before semi-retiring in 2004. He has served and continues to serve as a board member on various organizations throughout the county. Wanting to give back to his community and after much prayer and consideration, David ran and was elected Sheriff of Pearl River County. He has held this position since 2008.
This annual dinner has evolved into Pearl River County’s premier recognition banquet. Anyone interested in attending can RSVP to local Boy Scout Executive, Zach Ross, at 601-606-6126 or zachary.ross@scouting.org.
