Launch of State’s New Vehicle Registration Network

On October 9, 2017, Mississippi’s new tag and title network, MARVIN, will go live at the Department of Revenue and at all 104 county tax collector offices across this state.

MARVIN, replacing a network built in the early 1980’s, is a state-of-the-art system whose functionality will benefit each county for vehicle registrations, revenue accounting, and its audit monitoring capabilities. Vehicle owners will benefit from a faster turn-around time for titles and improved customer service when registering their vehicles and renewing license plates.

The new system provides Mississippi the ability to access and communicate with a nationwide system that helps prevent fraud and keeps unsafe vehicles off the road.

With any new software installation of this magnitude, there will be hiccups. There will be some who will be frustrated. DOR has been working to mitigate these common reactions by selecting a user-friendly system, demonstrating the software at the county offices, involving users in testing, and providing training throughout the state.

We ask for your patience as the county offices may experience longer than usual wait times during its first week. We expect any delays to be short term.
