Pearl River County Sheriff's office responds to complaints; make arrests

Raymond Bennett

Pearl River County Sheriff David Allison said that deputies were dispatched to 9851 Hwy 43 North in Poplarville on August 22nd, where it was reported that someone was being held against their will by Raymond Bennett, age 43, of the same address.

According to Sheriff Allison, when the deputies arrived, they talked with an uninvolved person at the residence. While speaking with this person, deputies could smell burnt marijuana coming from the residence. The deputies secured the residence and called Pearl River County Narcotics Investigators, who later arrived at the location with a search warrant.

During a search of the residence, a large amount of marijuana paraphernalia and a bowie knife was found in a location in the residence in an area controlled by Bennett. Investigators confirmed that Bennett was a convicted felon and therefore was prohibited from possession of this type of weapon.

Raymond Bennett was arrested for the Felony Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon and Possession of Paraphernalia. It was later determined that no one was being held against their will at the residence according to Sheriff Allison..
