Pearl River County Sheriff Department Investigating Fatality Accidents

As we reported late yesterday, the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating two cases that resulted in fatalities this past weekend.

The first case involved a man being killed by a train just south of Picayune. On Friday night just after sunset, Bruce Wilson Lee, Jr., age 52, of Nicholson, was struck by a train and died of blunt force trauma per information provided to us by Coroner Derek Turnage.

The second case resulted in the death of Thomas Keagon Travis, age 17, of Carriere in an accident that occurred on Saturday around 3:30pm in the Henleyfield Community on Carey Byrd Road.

According to Chief Deputy Shane Tucker, Travis was driving a 1998 Ford Mustang with three passengers when it collided with a 2010 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Kirk Brouillette,

age 48, of Oak Leaf Drive of Carriere. Brouillette and two of his passengers had to be airlifted to Hattiesburg’s Forrest General Hospital. A third passenger was transported to Highland Community Hospital in Picayune.

As information becomes available, WRJW will provide details of these two cases.
