"Operation Crackdown" generates more arrests


Picayune Police Department Assistant Chief Dustin Moeller said in a press release that as part of the ongoing Operation Crackdown, the Picayune Police Narcotics Division has also been patrolling the streets of Picayune in further attempts to remove drugs from the streets as well as arresting suspects on outstanding warrants that were generated from this undercover operation.

Moeller said that on March 12, 2019, at approximately 12:50 p.m., Narcotic Detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Jerry Stockstill Road near Jackson Landing Road for No Turn Signal. Detectives made contact with the driver of the vehicle, identified as Jerry Anthony Stockstill, age 58, 2412 Jackson Landing Road, Picayune, and the passenger, identified as Priscilla Rose Cole, age 38, 12 Buck Lumpkin Road, Carriere. Detectives observed there was an open container containing what was believed to be an alcoholic beverage.

Moeller said Narcotic Detectives conducted a search of the vehicle and they located a clear plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance believed to be Crystal Methamphetamine, a plastic container containing a green leafy substance believed to be Marijuana, and a glass pipe which is commonly used to inhale illegal narcotics. It was also learned through investigation that Stockstill’s drivers license was suspended.

Stockstill was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Possession of Marijuana in a Motor Vehicle, Driving While License Suspended, and No Turn Signal. Cole was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Possession of Marijuana in a Motor Vehicle, and Open Beer. Both Stockstill and Cole were transported to the Criminal Justice Center, booked, and incarcerated according to Moeller.

Moeller stated that on March 13, 2019, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Narcotic Detectives place Janet Holcomb “Sunny” Burnette, age 63, 77 Lawson Taylor Road, Carriere, under arrest for outstanding warrant for two counts of Sale of Controlled Substance Within 1500 feet of a Church operating as a local business on Highway 11 South. Burnette was transported to the Criminal Justice Center where he was booked and incarcerated according to Moeller.

On the same day, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Moeller stated that Narcotic Detectives place Lawanda Michelle Graves, age 46, 2604 Nina Drive, Picayune, under arrest two outstanding warrants for Sale of Controlled Substance with 1500 feet of a Church and Conspiracy to Sell a Controlled Substance within 1500 feet of a Church at 2604 Nina Drive. Graves was transported to the Criminal Justice Center where he was booked and incarcerated according to Moeller.

And later in the evening of March 13, 2019, at approximately 7:54 p.m., Narcotic Detectives along with Picayune Patrol Officers executed a search warrant at 1600 6th Ave at which time they made contact with a suspect identified as Dustin Michael Gray, age 23, of the same address. During a search of the residence, Narcotic Detectives located several mason jars containing a green leafy substance believed to be Hydroponic Marijuana, sets of digital scales containing a green leafy residue believed to also be Hydroponic Marijuana, and several clear plastic bags. These items are commonly used to weigh, package, and distribute illegal narcotics.

Gray was at this time placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute within 1500 feet of a Church. Gray was transported to the Criminal Justice Center where he was booked and incarcerated.

Moeller stated that this operation is still ongoing and the efforts to rid the city of illegal narcotics will continue.
