Pearl River County Sheriff's Department arrests two for possession


Pearl River County Sheriff David Allison released reports on two arrests made in the county for possession of controlled substances.

On May 8, 2018, Narcotics Investigators from the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department and Picayune Police Department Narcotics Division were on a routine patrol when they attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a Cadillac Escalade SUV for failure to use a turn signal according to Sheriff Allison.

The vehicle continued into a driveway and drove slowly for another few minutes refusing to stop. Finally the vehicle came to a stop and investigators made contact with the driver, identified as Larry Herd, age 39, of 14 Bonner Road in Poplarville. Herd was requested to exit the vehicle and was found to have a small amount of crystal methamphetamine in his front right pocket. Herd had also tried to discard another small bag of methamphetamine by throwing it out of the vehicle through the passenger side window as the vehicle had come to a stop. This bag was recovered by the investigators according to Sheriff Allison.

Herd was arrested and transported to the Pearl River County Jail where he was charged and booked for Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine).

On May 8, 2018, Narcotics Investigators from the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department and Picayune Police Department Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at #82 Whitesand Road in Poplarville. During the process of the search, Norman Henry, age 44, of 215 Whitesand Road pulled onto the property in his vehicle according to Sheriff Allison.

Upon exiting his vehicle and realizing law enforcement was on the scene serving a search warrant, he removed a clear plastic bag containing a small amount of crystal methamphetamine from his pocket and dropped it on the ground. The search warrant on the residence did not yield any additional methamphetamines according to Sheriff Allison .

Sheriff Allison said that Henry was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), transported the Pearl River County Jail, booked, and incarcerated.
