Board of Supervisors receive update from Circuit Clerk Nance Fitzpatrick Stokes

During Wednesday’s meeting of the Pearl River County Board of Supervisors,

Circuit Clerk Nance Fitzpatrick Stokes announced some important information about the upcoming elections and absentee voting.

In regards to the new voter cards mailed to citizens, Stokes told the board that they had been receiving calls from citizens who were not happy with the change in their voting precinct location. Ironically, Stokes shared that some people are calling her office asking for information and openly admitting they had not read the letter that was included with the new card.

Stokes brought a copy of the map showing the location of precincts for the entire county (shown below). Click here access the interactive map

Stokes also said her office will be open for the next five Saturdays for voting.

Absentee voting on Saturday, April 14, 2018, is for the Board Member for Lamar County School District C only.

Absentee voting for the PRC Bond Issue will begin as soon as ballots are ready. The school district made changes and her office is working on approval for a revised ballot and will let the public know as soon as that is ready.

Absentee voting for the Primary Election begins next week.

Also during the meeting, Code Enforcement Officer Kolby Davis (pictured below)ask the board for a request to hold a public hearing pertaining to a property cleanup on 136 Huntington Drive in Picayune and the board granted his request. The date for the hearing was set for May 23, 2018.
