Picayune Police Patrol Division and Picayune Narcotics Division went to a local motel on December 4th after receiving complaints from the community that they suspected illegal narcotic activity occurring at a local motel according to a press release from Assistant Police Chief Jeremy Magri.

Detectives arrived at the motel at 2:28pm and came in contact with 36-year-old Andrew Paul Mielke of 999 Cooper Road Apt # 224, Picayune; and Pete William Stanfield, age 40, of 32 Liberty Road, Picayune.

Narcotic Detectives conducted a search Stanfield and found a clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance believed to be heroin in the suspect’s front right shorts pocket. A further search by detectives located a black backpack that belong to Stanfield and a search of the backpack revealed a set of digital scales which contained a crystal residue believed to be crystal methamphetamine and a white powdery substance believed to be heroin in the front pouch of the backpack. During a further search of the backpack, Narcotic Detectives located 50 orange and clear syringes, a bowie knife, and a brown plastic container that contained a crystal substance residue believed to be crystal methamphetamine inside the main cargo pouch.

Narcotic Detectives learned from several different investigative techniques that Mielke transferred the backpack of narcotics to Stanfield at which time the two conspired to sell the backpack to an unknown source. It was also learned that Stanfield was a convicted felon for previous narcotic convictions.
