First responders recognized by Chamber of Commerce during luncheon
The Picayune Police Department and Fire Department were guests of the Greater Picayune Area Chamber of Commerce during a special luncheon to recognize the first responders with awards. The event was held at The Grand Banquet Hall.
City of Picayune Director of Operations, Harvey Miller, opened the event thanking the first responders from the City of Picayune.
Miller stated, "Our Mayor, Ed Pinero, our City Manager Jim Luke, and I say many times over and over that we wouldn't trade our policeman and fireman for anyone, anywhere. I want to let you know you are loved, you are appreciated, and we thank you for what you do.."
Fire Chief Keith Brown presented the Firefighter of the Year award to Brian Brignac. Brown said of Brignac "Our department is blessed with outstanding young men who serve as firefighters, and this individual is no exception. From the moment he begins his shift, he is a positive influence on his fellow employees and conducts all aspects and missions of the job with a positive attitude."

Assistant Police Chief Jeremy Magri presented the Civilian of the Year award to Robert Maxwell stating "the department is very fortunate to have this person who goes above and beyond the listed qualifications of his job." Maxwell was unable to attend the banguet.
Magri presented the Chief's Award for the Rookie of the Year to Joshua C. Stockstill.

The Police Officer of the Year award was presented to Lt. James Drewery "Throughout his career, he exemplified the core values of a Police Officer through his hard work and dedication to the department and the citizens of Picayune," Magri said of Drewery.
